摘  要: The incompressible Euler equation is one of the fundamental equations in fluid dynamics. Whether solutions remain regular globally in time is a long standing open problem for the Euler equation in three-dimension. In this talk, I will review recent works on singularity formations for several simplified systems in fluid dynamics, and discuss a possible scenario of the small scale singularity formation for the 3D Euler equations.

报告人简介Dr. Changhui Tan received his B.S. at Peking University in 2008, and Ph.D. at University of Maryland in 2014, advised by Prof. Eitan Tadmor. After graduation, he went to Rice University as a Lovett Instructor. Now, he is an assistant professor in University of South Carolina. Dr. Tan’s research interests include modeling, analysis and computation of nonlinear and nonlocal PDEs in fluid dynamics, kinetic theory, hyperbolic conservation laws, and complex biological systems.
